Leather German reins
Collection One
German reins are also known as drag reins. These are much longer reins than usual, which start at the pommel, pass through the muzzle rings and end at the rider's hand. The fixed connection is on the chest (or on each side of the saddle). Therefore, the reins slide through the bit rings, either when the rider changes their length or when the horse moves its head.
When placed correctly, they determine the maximum level of neck lift, the height that should not exceed the head. In fact, they are not "adjusted" as would be expected from normal reins, they are only tightened if the horse raises his neck above a well-chosen point. The head-neck angle must remain open, German reins are not used for contact.
